Dogs have made Brits hot under the collar – with more than a third of owners jealous of their pooch’s superior social life.
More than one in three say their pups do more socialising than them, with a third caring more about their pup’s social engagements than seeing their own pals.
Nearly a quarter say their dogs see their friends every week, while 14 per cent admit they’re playing with their pals every day.
And more than half of owners see friends purely so their dogs can play together.
In 2019, 21 per cent of Brits admitted they socialise with friends, relatives or coworkers less than once a month.
But one in ten pet-owners take their pooches paddle-boarding to keep them entertained, with 35 per cent taking them on picnics and two thirds going on trips to the seaside.
And 48 per cent cancel their own plans so theory can accommodate for their four-legged friends.
Samantha Crossley, Marketing Director of healthy dog food brand Lily’s Kitchen who conducted the research, said: “It seems our dogs are, by far, the most sociable members of the family.
“Our research shows they’re out and about mingling, schmoozing with their pals and generally living their best lives.
“But we know that sorting mealtimes on the move can be a pain point for many pet parents.”
The company have launched a meaty food bar for pups, specially designed so owners can feed their pets even when they’re on the go.
This comes as 15 per cent put off adventures with their furry friends because they don’t have an easy way to feed them, with the same number carrying. bulky meals so their dogs can eat along the way.
The most sociable place for pets in the UK is Derry, Ireland, where one in six pups have a better social life than their owners.
This is closely followed by Walsall in the West Midlands at 57 per cent, while Edinburgh comes in third with half of pet owners admitting the embarrassing fact.
