FROG on the Tyne! A frog travelled 6,000 miles to Newscastle

"this little fella hitchhiked from Ethiopia to Newcastle in a delivery of mint at a supermarket"

A frog travelled nearly 6,000 miles from Ethiopia to a supermarket in NEWCASTLE. The amphibian donned an invisibility croak as it camouflaged in a bunch of herbs. The stowaway in the hold luggage might have entered Britain via plane. A direct flight from the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa to Newcastle would take longer than eight hours.

Geordies went mint-al when the frog hopped out in the supermarket in the city. But it is now being looked after by a local specialist.  RSPCA animal rescue officer Heather Wade was called in to collect the frog.

An RSPCA spokesman said: “Animal rescue officer Wade collected this little fella who hitchhiked from Ethiopia to Newcastle in a delivery of mint at a supermarket.”
