These stunning pelican and seagull images celebrate World Photo Day

A PELICAN flips a fish into its bill, while a seagull is captured diving.

These are the stunning entrants for the CEWE Photo Award.

Other stunning moments include a wise old owl sternly disapproving of its young and the moment a family crane over a glass divider to see their new baby for the first time.

Another shows a gorging pelican with its dinner suspended in its open bill in Jihlava Czechia. A third, photographed by Robert Brewer in Devon, sees the moment a seagull dives headfirst into a local pond, mirrored by its rippling reflection. And the moment a friend sprinted to power his grinning cycling pal to the end of a race was captured in Frankfurt, Germany. While young friends, captured in eternal black and white, are seen playing with their bikes in an isolated street in Rochefort, France. This contrasts with a small group of pals enjoying a sun-glazed kickabout surrounded by smoke in Nice, France. The competition is open to amateurs and professionals alike and aims to celebrate the best in photography across the world. Over 1,000 winners will get prizes totalling over £200,000, with three winners chosen each month getting vouchers for £85 in CEWE products. CEWE is a photo processing company from Oldenburg, Germany, which also has a production site in Warwick. Submissions are open until the end of May 2023 under the theme “Our World Is Beautiful.”

An expert from CEWE UK said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating World Photography Day this year by releasing a selection of images across all categories that have been submitted in this year’s edition of the CEWE Photo Award.

“Photography is such a wonderful tool – allowing us to capture the beauty of the world around us, from people and places to animals and nature.

“We hope you enjoy these images as much as we do.”
