The Kent seaside town has been a spiritual home for the band.
They own the Albion Rooms hotel nearby and sponsor Margate FC.
Locals snapped up tickets this week after finding out about the hastily arranged gig in the town’s The Oval bandstand yesterday Wednesday (Aug 17).
Only a few hundred people saw the Don’t Look Back into the Sun band.
Doherty, 43 – who battled drug demons throughout his career – now lives a quiet life in Etretat, Normandy, France with wife Katia de Vida.
