TARON Egerton spreads a thick layer of mayonnaise across his pizza

Taron Egerton spreads mayonnaise on his pizza and curries!

"I promise you - it’s going to take that thing to the next level"

TARON Egerton spreads a thick layer of mayonnaise across his pizza – and is furious that no one else does.

The Kingsman hunk, 32, revealed that the condiment is his go to with every meal – even CURRIES.

He has even considered creating his own brand, specifically designed to taste good on the Italian staple.

The Rocketman star said: “People who don’t put mayonnaise on pizza drive me up the wall.

“The history books are full of people everyone said were mad until they invented the lightbulb, or something.

“If you have got a pizza, particularly if it’s a frozen pizza that is uninspiring, take a big old dollop of mayonnaise from a jar and you just spread it on top like butter on a crumpet.

“I promise you – it’s going to take that thing to the next level.

“You’ve got to expand the way you’re thinking because the components are the same as a sandwich – and you’d never go ‘You’re putting mayonnaise on a sandwich? You heathen!’”

The Welsh actor, who is set to be  in the new Netflix thriller Carry On, spoke out on the Off Menu podcast, hosted by comedians Ed Gamble and James Acaster.

But the mayo brainwave left the Mock the Week stars staggered.

James Acaster, 37, sarcastically joked: “I know what you mean actually – people who don’t put jam on a burger annoy me.

“I’m open to the idea, I like that you do it.

“I think the issue that we had is that people who don’t do it do my head in because that is everyone but you, Taron.”

Ed Gamble, 36, added: “So when you are preparing for a film role and being healthy and being healthy, it’s pretty easy – you just cut out mayonnaise slathered pizzas.”

Taron laughed: “That’s how I lose the first stone.”

But he stood by his creation, considering developing a mayo designed to be put on pizzas and even a collab with a pizzeria who would serve their dishes with the option of it coming “Taron-style”.

Although he did admit he usually has the dish as hangover food, leaving him feeling “disgusting” the day after.

Fans took to social media to agree with the hosts.

Dominic said: “I feel there is going to be some mayonnaise based, pizza vandalism following this podcast.”

Another said: “My brother smothers his pizza in mayonnaise.

“I’m not saying it’s right, just saying there’s more than one out there…”

But some took the movie star’s side.

Huw said: “Taron Egerton is 100 per cent right about mayo over frozen store bought pizza!

“Perfect little weekend treat, but you take away that mayo and it’s just pure misery!”

Clarissa said: “I can’t believe I’m actually considering putting mayo on pizza…”
