Man mortified after gay pride tattoo goes wrong

"I didn’t know there were different gay pride, lesbian pride, bi pride and trans pride symbols"

A MORTIFIED man got a gay pride tattoo – only to realise he got the symbol for lesbian love inked on his arm.

Keaton Jesse decided to get the design as a “very out and proud” but fairly clueless teenager.

But in his ignorance he simply googled “gay pride symbol” without any extra research.

Gay Keaton, 24, settled on two interlocking Venus symbols – which is sometimes used to signify female same-sex relationships and lesbian pride, on the inside of his wrist.

And his tattooist – a hetrosexual man – was also nonethewiser.

But the care worker has now realised his mistake – after being approached by a woman at a gay bar in his hometown of Solihull, West Mids.

Keaton said: “I didn’t know there were different gay pride, lesbian pride, bi pride and trans pride symbols – I thought we were all just on the same side.

“So, I just whacked it on my arm.

“I went to this guy who did tattoos in his living room. It was very, very back street.

“I was very, very newly out and openly gay. I had different coloured hair every week and was always wearing different coloured jeans and that.

“I just thought this is so cool, this is what I want.

“So I just googled gay pride and showed it to him.”

Keaton paid around £15 for the ink, which he was initially thrilled with.

But he explained: “A few years later, I think I was about 18 or 19, I was down town at my first gay bar.

“I was just dancing away and this girl came up to me and told me she loved my tattoo.

“I was just thinking yeah. Gay pride and all that.”

But when the woman quizzed Keaton on why he had the symbol for two women etched on his wrist, and not two men, he was absolutely floored.

“Instantly my brain just went ‘oh my God I’m so embarrassed’,” Keaton said.

He added: “But she pulled up her phone and showed me and she was right, it was the symbol for two women!

“I have thought about getting it covered up but everyone I show it to loves it and the story behind it so I’m not so sure now.”

Keaton has since shared his hilarious tattoo gaffe on TikTok from his account @keatonjesse, where the video has amassed more than half a MILLION views.

He said: “I love the tattoo now, I feel like it’s kind of trending.”
