Schoolboy has lucky escape after stepping on venomous snake

A schoolboy had a lucky escape after he nearly stood on a six-foot-long venomous SNAKE on his way to class.

The lad stepped out of his house with his mum, blissfully unaware of the danger ahead of them.

The pair didn’t spot the king cobra because it was camouflaged with the pavement outside their home.

The school boy had a very lucky escape

The huge serpent slithered along under a concrete step just as the boy and his mother came out.

The horrifying moment – captured on CCTV – showed the boy step down and the snake moved out the way at the last moment.

He turned and still didn’t realise the threat and actually walked towards the king cobra who flared its hood.

His mother then scooped him up in her arms forcing one of his shoes to fall off.

King cobras are the world’s longest venomous snake.

They can kill a human in just 15 minutes with their deadly bite.

It happened in Mandya, in the states of Karnataka, India.

Susanta Nanda, of the Indian Forest Service, said snakes move into residential areas following heavy rain.

He said: “Be careful of snakes during monsoons.

“This CCTV footage from Mandya of Karnataka is scary.

“Kudos to the mother’s courage.”

He added: “When it rains, the burrows get filled with water and snakes move out to seek dry shelter.

Once spotted, allow it to rest till the professional help arrives.”
